The VSS Vintorez is a weapon unlocked at 150000 Battlescore. A rapid fire automatic sniper, the high rate of fire is offset by sheer inaccuracy and presence of bullet drop.
History
The VSS Vintorez is the sniper rifle derivative of the AS VAL assault rifle. Because of this the weapon shares similar design features such as an intergral suppressor though unlike the AS VAL, the VSS Vintorez is equipped with a skeletonized wooden stock which is a more rounded version of the one seen on the SVD, a smaller magazine and a PSO-1 telescopic sight.
General Information
The VSS Vintorez's damage is rather low for the class, but for it's firemode quite high at 300 damage within 50m and dropping heavily to 175 damage at 350m and beyond. Due to the more steep damage drop the weapon is more suited to be used in closer ranges compared to the typical sniper rifle.
This damage is made up by the fact however it is the fastest sniper rifle in the game firing at 700 RPM which even with the lower overall damage can easily shred enemy players especially when landing headshots.
The catch, well, you will likely have at most a burst of three or two hit. Any more, and the rest of the burst will land off target. This is not helped by the weapon's low velocity of 1200 m/s as well as suffering from bullet drop.
Though the weapon suffers at longer ranges, the weapon is slightly more favorable up close due to a much tighter than usual hipfire spread and while the weapon only has a small magazine size of 10 rounds, it reloads slightly faster than other snipers at 2.75 seconds.
To use it, one should play it as if it was an assault rifle with a tiny magazine and high damage.

- Even though the weapon's scope has a visible reticle, the traditonal scoped view is used instead most likely to make it more comfortable to use.
- Interestingly, if implemented correctly, the PSO-1 does include an inbuilt stadiametric rangefinder, which allows the user to measure the distance for a shot.
- The reload animation is somewhat inspired by various reload animations from the game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
- The VSS Vintorez is the first and only sniper rifle to have bullet drop.
