The HK417-Silver is a weapon unlocked at 7750 Battlescore. Compared to the HK417, the weapon has a higher close range damage and a larger magazine size.
History
The HK417 battle rifle is the larger caliber counterpart of the HK416 assault rifle and was primarily used in designated marksman roles to complement assault rifles, providing higher accuracy and stopping power at the cost of rate of fire and a smaller magazine size.
General Information
Compared to the HK417, the HK417-Silver does more damage up close of 230 damage within 50m compared to 215 damage within the same range from the HK417. While this slight increase in damage does little to increase overall effectiveness, it does mean that the damage would drop at a slightly slower rate.
The HK417-Silver also has a marginally larger magazine size of 25 rounds compared to 20 rounds. Along with increased ammo reserves to match the increased magazine size, the weapon can be fired for longer before needing to reload.
Every other statistic is the same.
It is recommended to engage at medium distance and fire in short accurate bursts of 3-5, maximizing DPS and hit probability, while reducing or eliminating missed shots.
Trivia
- The model and animation is made by JimmyLJX
- The model of the magazine is translucent. As common with such models it lacks any sort of internal detail, nor is it animated.
- The bullets inside the magazine are oversized, so much so that they look more akin to .50 BMG rounds in terms of size. The bullets are also not double stacked like a real HK417 magazine would.
- No 25 round magazine exists for the HK417, not even a custom magazine to reflect the larger magazine size.
- The scope is awkwardly hollow, more likely due to the model being relatively old.
- The "silver" aspect of the HK417-Silver as of current is more light blue than actually being shiny, so blue in fact it is difficult to see the rough details of the weapon model. Some players even described the colour to be steel blue.
- The model of the magazine is translucent. As common with such models it lacks any sort of internal detail, nor is it animated.
- The HK417 is typically a battle rifle, or at most a designated marksman rifle. The one in Base Wars is part of the Sniper Rifles category as opposed to the Assault Rifles and Carbines category, most likely due to the oversaturation of assault rifles.
- In a sniper rifle role, firing in full auto is not recommended for the obvious fact firing in such a manner will cause accuracy to degrade rapidly, this is reflected by the weapon's relative inaccuracy when firing full auto at range.
